There are many good things about modern Western society – freedom, greater wealth, rule of law, better safety and security, mass education and health care – but not everything is a bed of roses. In recent decades, there have been signs of decline and decline does not happen unless the individuals involved are suffering in some way.
Some researchers report that the average IQ of British people is declining. Previous to that, IQ had been rising ever since the tests were introduced in the early 20th century – the Flynn Effect. Despite all the advances in education, all the good will by successive governments, extra money and resources, all the new opportunities afforded by technology for learning, average IQ seems to be falling!
Moreover, a government politician recently revealed that 1 in 7 adults in the UK have taken some form of antidepressant drug. Some people take them continuously for more than five years!
Lockdown has had something to do with this melancholy, I am sure. Enforced isolation (solitary confinement!) and in some cases enforced unemployment would hardly have no negative effect on the mental wellbeing of fundamentally social people.
Then there are the huge numbers of alcoholics, over 602,000, and frequent drug users, 777,000 in 2023.
Whatever the causes of these indicators of societal decline and individual malaise, the future does not look rosy for the UK if these phenomena continue. They are hardly a ringing endorsement of current society. Something about modern life must be very unpalatable to many people: not just a few, but a sizeable proportion of the population.
These things and personal interest in the mind, have inspired to me put my previous counselling training to use as a profession, hence this website.
I originally trained as a Dianetic therapist in 1991. A the time I was a research student at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne. By the mid 90’s, I had moved back down to Yorkshire doing research and engineering consultancy work. I put a little of my counselling training to use but not full-time.
I took more training courses at the Scientology Academy in Manchester. Again, I didn’t do much counselling as work and sport tended to dominate my time and interest.
Anyway, time has moved on. The experience of lockdown and the obvious signs of decline in Western civilisation coupled with the potential rise of authoritarianism in the world clearly indicate that our current society is far from acceptable. It is much better than it used to be, from an historical point of view, but there are definite signs that we have reached a zenith and are now in decay. Perhaps in a small way I could do something about.
Well, I found tremendous benefit from the Dianetic and Scientology spiritual counselling and training that I received so I have decided to offer my services to the general public.
My catchment area is Yorkshire – mainly West and South, between Leeds and Sheffield.
I know from experience that spiritual and mental improvement is achievable. It may not always be easy but it is possible. I heartily encourage visitors to my website to avail themselves of my services and improve themselves.
